What is this grant?

Community College Opportunity Grant awards will pay the costs of tuition and approved educational fees that are not already covered by other available grant funds applied to the student’s account. During this initial pilot phase of the program, awards are limited to students whose adjusted gross income is between $0 and $45,000.

Take these steps to see if you qualify!

Eligibility requirements for the Spring 2019 Community College Opportunity Grant award
  • Complete and file the FAFSA or New Jersey Alternative Application by February 15, 2019. Cumberland County College's FAFSA school code is 002601.
  • Complete and answer the New Jersey State Grants Questions in NJFAMS.
  • Students must be enrolled for a minimum of 6 college level credits.
  • Students must have an adjusted gross income (AGI) of no less than $0 and no more than $45,000: for a dependent student AGI refers to parental AGI as reported on the financial aid application, for an independent student AGI refers to the AGI reported on the financial aid application for the student and, if applicable, the student’s spouse.
  • Currently enrolled students must be in good academic standing.
  • Stop out students (students who have at least one-semester break in enrollment) who failed to make satisfactory progress may be entitled to this grant if they do not have any other financial obligations to the college.
  • Students are required to go to their home county college with the following two exceptions.
    1. Students who were enrolled and attended an approved out-of-county program during or prior to the Fall 2018 semester.
    2. The program of study is not available or there is a lack of space in the program at the home county college.
